Cook Time

Cook time for this Ninja Foodi pot roast recipe is about 1 hour. The pressure cooking time is about 40 minutes, followed by the air frying time of about 10 minutes. The total cook time is about 1 hour, with the pressure cooking time taking up the majority of the time.

Ingredients

You’ll need the following ingredients to make this Ninja Foodi pot roast recipe:

  • 2-3 lbs chuck roast
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

1. Start by seasoning the chuck roast with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme. Rub the seasoning into the roast and set aside.

2. Next, heat the olive oil in the Ninja Foodi pot on the sear/sauté setting. Once hot, add the chuck roast and sear for about 5 minutes on each side, until nicely browned. Remove the roast from the pot.

3. Add the beef broth, red wine (if using), Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste to the pot. Stir to combine.

4. Add the chuck roast back to the pot, along with the garlic, onion, carrots, celery, oregano, bay leaves, and thyme. Make sure the roast is fully submerged in the liquid.

5. Close the lid and make sure the pressure valve is set to sealing. Select the pressure cook setting and set the time to 40 minutes.
When the time is up, let the pot naturally release the pressure for 10 minutes, then quick release the remaining pressure.

6. Carefully remove the chuck roast from the pot and set aside. Discard the bay leaves.

7. In a small bowl, whisk together the butter, flour, and water to create a slurry. Add the slurry to the pot and stir to combine.

8. Set the Ninja Foodi to the air fryer setting and set the temperature to 375°F. Add the chuck roast back to the pot and air fry for 10 minutes, or until the roast is crispy and golden brown.

9. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and 1/4 cup of water. Add the cornstarch mixture to the pot and stir to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.

10. Serve the pot roast with the vegetables and sauce. Enjoy!

Equipment

You’ll need a Ninja Foodi to make this recipe. You’ll also need a small bowl and whisk for the slurry and cornstarch mixture.
